Parent/Infant program

Families with children from 4 to 14 months of age.

The Parent/Infant community provides a warm, nurturing, and stimulating environment that allows children and parents, nannies, grandparents, or any adult that cares for the child, to learn together in a Montessori environment designed specifically for the development of infants.

The program is aimed at helping parents to understand how the Montessori principles can be used in the home to nurture their child’s development. It will also be of interest to anyone who wants to know more about young children and their development.

Explore why these early years are so important and are the critical foundation for lifelong learning.

This is a 6-weeks program, held once a week in two hours sessions. During this time, the role of the parent or childcarer is to observe the child working in a Montessori environment. Parents will work side by side with our 0-3 AMI certified guide to help support their children’s natural development.

Parents will be provided with observation journals and guidance on how to observe their children daily.

During class, we will discuss observations and any questions that arise with the Montessori guides and other parents. We will also have group discussions on topics pertaining specifically to the young child; some of those topics will include:

  • How to set up your home environment
  • Development of language
  • Development of movement
  • Growth of independence
  • Screens
  • Toileting
  • Nursing/Weaning/First foods
  • Setting healthy limits
  • The hand as the instrument of the brain
  • Positive attachments
  • Montessori concepts ,i.e. absorbent mind, freedom and limits, sensitive periods, 4 planes of development...

Our goal in creating a Parent/Infant program is to provide a space where infants and parents gather to create a community built on Montessori education and support.
