From 18 months to 6 years old.
Environments are carefully prepared to accommodate to the needs of the children at their particular stage of development. Our programs are divided by the child’s stage of development, called “planes of development” in Montessori, rather than age.
Casa del Mar Montessori offers a Montessori education based on the principles and practices of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI).
Children between 18 months and 2.5 - 3 years of age join the Infant community, where the environment is prepared to meet the needs of the toddler and foster independence, psychomotor development and language acquisition. And, more importantly, where their individual personality is respected.
Children are guided through potty-training in this environment.
Children between the ages of 3 and 6 are in a special time of their life. They are building themselves, their personalities are not complete. They are explorers, concrete and sensorial learners: touching and feeling with all their senses.
Through a variety of Practical Life activities, children become more independent. They learn about their world by studying continents, animals, plants, and other cultures. They work with concrete materials to learn mathematical concepts including the decimal system, geometry, and fractions. Arts, languages, and music are also a part of this program.
Ages 6 to 12
When children have progressed to greater independence and self-motivation and start to show capabilities of abstraction and great interest in social and community life, they are ready for Elementary. Most children start the Elementary program between ages six and seven.
Casa del Mar Montessori will work towards the opening of this program as our students grow.
